I took up photography as a serious (and bank account unfriendly....) hobby starting in 2015 when I undertook a lot of work-related travel to southern Africa. The landscapes and wildlife there inspired me to ditch the point and shoot, upgrade to a DSLR, and get serious about photography as a hobby, and there has been no looking back, I’m addicted. My first love was wildlife photography but now I focus mostly on landscapes, inspired in large part by repeated trips to my favourite part of the world, the US southwest, which to someone with a geology background is holy ground. I've always loved being outdoors and found photography greatly enhances my time there. More recently I have taken up nightscape photography, and tinkering with deep sky astrophotography from my backyard.
