Hello. I'm John. I seem to come and go on Flickr. Don't get me wrong. I think it's a terrific site for photographers. Being a husband and father of five, though, has it's limitations. Only 24 hours in a day.

I'm amateur, having only seriously shot for about 2 years. But I'm finding my style, I think. I favor black and white imagery much more than color. I'm realizing that, for myself, if I'm aiming to document something, or for general snapshots, color photography is what I go for. However, when intention is my motivation, black and white is my preference, for it tends to focus more on the most important aspects of photography: light, shadow, tones and composition.

Most of my photography is now captured on an old Canon 5D mark 1, or as it is known among the cult, Canon 5D Classic. My favorite lens is the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4. They say 35mm is the story-telling lens. I'd have to agree with that.

I also use Lumix cameras: the venerable GH5 and one I think will be a cult favorite down the road, the GX85. But I don't really care for the modern lenses for micro four thirds. I almost exclusively use vintage Canon FD glass on these mirrorless cameras.
