Mostly a writer and historian, working as a trainer, tour guide and general dogsbody at Shakespeare's Globe in London, with an expensive and unprofitable obsession with photography that, for some reason, never fails to make me feel better about life. I started shooting with a Fed 4 before moving on to various 1970s Canons.

After periodically playing with a Nikon D70, I got back into photography through my mobile phone (a Huawei P20 Pro) and am now re-learning to take proper photos with a Fujifilm X-T20.

The next step will be to start collecting retro lenses -- the first one I fancy is a Helios 44-2.
