Hit-and-Run Storytelling

Fleeing the Scene of the Rhyme
Some stories evoke images. Collected below are images that evoke stories:

A Random Approach to Photography:
Armed with a point-and-shoot camera and a mere smattering of technical skill at photography, I rely on heavily canvasing a subject and sifting through the photos to find the most compelling ones.
The process is more one of discovering art than of creating it, playing the role of curator at a local art museum rather than being an oil painter. Success or failure is from developing an eye for visual appeal, of single images in isolation, and of sets of images as a cohesive whole.
Quality through quantity
Given a million monkeys on a million typewriters, eventually one of them will type out the complete works of Shakespeare. Digital cameras make this approach more and more practical for photography.
Less is more
Identifying photos that drag down the set or photostream as a whole. What photos are deleted is just as important as what photos are added. Getting feedback from others is an important part of this process.
Guided randomness
Allowing randomly-unique shots to reveal themselves, while vaguely steering in a direction that looks promising.
Finding something in nothing
A random or abstract image that looks as if it were deliberately created to resemble something specific. One example of this is the "Face on Mars", a photograph of a Cydonian mesa on Mars that resembles a human face.
Finding something in something else
A photo of a recognizable object that looks as if it were deliberately intended to resemble something else.

Flash boldly explores photography as an individualistic creative outlet. Not satisfied with just taking traditionally beautiful photographs - and he's perfectly capably of this - he pushes the envelope, creates, and explores. The results are often spectacular and (dare I say) borderline revolutionary. I always look forward to his new techniques and the results of his creative mind - both in the photographs and the written word that accompany them.
