As an amateur photographer I find inspiration every where....but my favourite shots are of the natural world:-)
I have always had a passion for wildlife and nature since growing up in the Northamptonshire countryside where I spent much of my childhood exploring the fields and lanes with my father. He introduced me to the delights of the seasons and many hours were spent searching for wildlife and birds with binoculars in tow.
Leaving the countryside at the age of 18, I embarked on my first taste of urban life as I headed to Luton and trained to be a nurse. By the time I was 22, the bright lights of London beckoned and a new career move. Finishing University in 1994 with a degree in Education, I began a new life as I Primary School teacher. I stayed in education for 28 years and moved up the leadership ladder, spending some of that time as Head and Deputy Headteacher, but it was teaching in the classroom that made me the happiest.
During my time in London, I developed a passion for photography and this passion began to snowball once I bought my first DSLR camera with money inherited from my uncle. I used my photography as an escape from living in the metropolis and it reawakened my interest in nature. Photography allowed me the time to unwind and get back outside exploring both new and favourite places.
I made the bold decision to quit my teaching career in December 2018 and now focus full time on my photography. I exhibit and sell at various craft fairs and events throughout the East Midlands and have converted the spare room at home to a gallery and studio.
