Have always admired calipers and surgical boots since childhood when there were many to be seen due to the polio years. Sightings are rare these days.

Childhood dreams:-

Polio when a young boy, just turned five, just started at primary school. Another child there wears a short iron on brown boots. She must have caught it before school age. Lives very close to the school but comes on a tricycle. Remember being told about another child at school (lived near me) who died in hospital from polio. I was told she was completely paralysed and in an iron lung.

ME

Left leg paralysis - full length leg iron, sockets with backstops to prevent dropped foot and tripping on dropped foot.. Right leg affected (kicking motions when walking and little control of the leg and foot but now need to wear an iron to keep my foot straight as my foot was turning over as if I have a club foot. The AFO keeps it level. I have blue elbow crutches but can only really be used when not carrying anything. Use a walking stick to help my balance. Use a wheelchair when feeling off colour.

As time has gone by, I have become incresingly deaf in the left ear so now use a hearing aid. Can hear a lot more now! Can hear what others are saying in whispers as they see my kit.

THE SERIOUS STUFF

I am a genuine straight male pretender with boots, KAFO and AFOs who would like to meet other caliper / boot pretenders in the UK for pretending trips out, away from home territory.

Age (2010) 68 years, but dress and think as a younger person. Friends tell me I do not look my age.

I am not gay but like leather jeans too. I have ordinary ones and tie-sided leather jeans. Ideal in the cold weather.

Look out for the hook photos too! Mind I don't grab you somewhere where it could be painful.
