I started taking railway photos in the early 1950's with a simple box camera, but when I went to University interest waned and most of the negatives were lost. In 1962 I bought my first 35mm camera - a Kodak Retinette 1a. I used this until the mid 1970's when I got my first SLR, a Praktica. Subsequently I have used Canons. I joined a photographic society on retirement and have branched out into pictorial photography as well as railways. I went digital in 2006. Currently (2017) I have a Canon EOS 750D. My main interest is steam but I have also photographed many diesel types especially in the 1980's and 1990's. I also enjoy photographing churches.
I live in Shirley, West Midlands.
All the photos uploaded are my own work.

As a former vicar, Ric might know Ecclesiastes 7:10, but nevertheless, he has an excellent collection of 1960s era steam photos in the West Midlands area. As a collection they convey the grime of the working railway, and include everyday incidental details, nearly all now lost. For some reason he keeps adding my photos to his favourites; yet pretty much every one in his photostream is doubly worth viewing and favouriting.
