My interest in photography began when, as a child, my mother presented me with a Kodak Brownie box camera. Later, when my father began projecting his color transparencies, I became fascinated with the amazing colors. He had purchased a Kodak Retina folding camera, and set about photographing while on our vacations using Kodachrome film.

During highschool, I bought a 35mm Kodak Signet 80 camera. With it, I took quite a few photos for my school and set up a rudimentary darkroom in my folk's basement.

I have always had an interest in photography as a hobbyist. In fact, I did a little professional photography with limited success for a while. Eventually, I got familiar with medium and large format cameras. The quality of the final image became a paramount concern. Like many photographers, I became enamored with books by Ansel Adams and others.

Digital cameras have certainly made life easier for the average photographer. However, I have begun to miss doing things the old way, with film. Consequently, I think I shall be shooting vintage cameras a lot more in the future.
