Our brand name, and indeed its ethos, draws inspiration from the original rule-breaker and female adventurer – Jeanne Baré, a gifted botanist who was the first female to circumnavigate the globe in 1766-69 (she did it masquerading as a man). Throughout the journey, Baré used particular plants that she had identified to treat the wounds and diseases of her fellow sailor.
