Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai merupakan lembaga pendidikan tinggi (perguruan tinggi) yang berada dalam naungan Yayasan Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai Riau. Kendatipun nama Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai baru ada sejak Tahun Akademik 2017, sesuai izin Dikti nomor 97/KPT/I/2017, tertanggal 20 Januari 2017, pada dasarnya Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai merupakan penyatuan dari dua Sekolah Tinggi yaitu Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan (STIKes) Tuanku Tambusai (berdiri sejak 2006) dengan Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (STKIP) Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai (berdiri sejak 2012).

Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai, shortly called Universitas Pahlawan, is a flourishing private university in Indonesia.

The existence of this higher education institution started off with the inception of the Diploma of Nursing, a 3-year entry-level tertiary education nursing credential, in 1996, nationally recognized as Akademi Keperawatan. In 2003, the institution responded a high demand on midwives in the nation by setting up another diploma, the Diploma in Midwifery, a 3-year entry-level tertiary education program. In 2006, these two diplomas were merged into a school, nationally recognized as Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan (STIKes). Several years after STIKes formation, it established a four-year program in Midwifery (2009) and an under graduate study of Public Health in 2011.
