I have been interested in railways since I was born alongside the railway adjacent to Abbey Foregate Signal Box, Shrewsbury, moved to Chester in 1967 and saw out the end of BR steam in the North West. Then concentrated on steam in France and Germany in the 1970s then travelling far and wide by rail internationally by the 1980s, got arrested in Roumania photographing locomotives and turfrd out of the country a day early, but managed to save most of my film.. Moved back to Shrewsbury in 1977 and got more involved in SVR. Always took transparencies then now I have so many I am slowly starting to digitalise what I can. Got involved with Severn Valley Railway in early 1970s, working at Highley station, the Bewdley C&W, then ventured up to Bridgnorth assisting to assist to paint locos, especially for Rainhill Cavalcade in 1980, GWR 150 in 1985. Became a passed fireman in 1979 which I also had opportunity to join the SVR Main line support crews for these events and Welsh Marches Express's of the time. Always had an interest in history of railways around Shrewsbury and North Wales. and fortunate to have witnessed and being involved with operation of main line steam out of Shrewsbury and Crewe in recent years.. Got involved with main line steam again with support crew of 5029 "Nunney Castle" when it was overhauled at Tyseley in 2005 and went out with it, currently now with LSL (TOC) at Crewe going out with 46100, 70000 and the LSL steam collection. I have amassed lots of slides over the years, some not brilliant but a historic record of what has happened in the steam movement over the last 50 odd years.
