I started using the Contax RTS back in the 1970s after hiring an amazing kit from David Leung's shop in Essex, UK; it comprised an RTS plus PMD, 250 Back and Loader, 28 f2, 50 1.4, 85 1.4, 135 f2, 70-210 f3.5 and loads of GAF500 and Ektachrome 400 - much of it was then stolen from my luggage at Heathrow Airport! Thankfully the money from my first book allowed me to buy a load of gear and I have continued my love of Contax/Zeiss and have recently extended my passion into their less costly alternative, Yashica. My Contax kit continues to get a regular workout and comprises around 200 camera bodies that include several CMCGs, Yashica FX-As and Gold RTS Anniversary editions; 167 Zeiss and Yashica lenses including rarities such as the Zeiss 55 and 85 1.2 Planars plus Yashica's ML 70-210 f4, various independent C/Y mount lenses and many hundreds of accessories - indeed every Contax accessory ever sold. From the tiny i4R to the stunning Contax 645, they can all deliver photos of the highest quality and in the end, that's all that really matters isn't it? And right now, I'm having a lot of fun with old 1950s/60s Yashica Rangefinders - there's always something new to learn... Much as I still love using film - especially medium format on Contax 645, Mamiya RZ67 and Fuji GX680III systems - I am also enjoying every moment that my Olympus m4/3 gear brings to me (most of the photos here have been shot on them) and my two favourite cameras are the redoubtable OM-D E-M1 and the elegant E-P5 with its nod back to the Olympus PEN. And if you have an E-M1, do get hold of Darrell Young's book 'Mastering the Olympus OM-D E-M1' - it's an essential read if you wish to get the most from the camera.
