Michael David Smithson (1967-2017) created art for most of his life. Mike drew, painted, wrote, played, diddled, and persistently conceived and imagined his daily life, the fantastic, and the abstract. Gathered here, you’ll find Mike’s work from when he was a teenager through to the days before his death.
Mike would want his art to be open to the public domain. He didn’t believe in ownership of the imagination. Please share or use either this collection or any given photo. Consider attributing whatever you borrow or use to Mike or to Miven Dooligan.
There is more art coming, and I plan to organize what’s here into albums. If you have artwork of Mike’s, please send it to me at ahadnos@gmail.com and I’ll add it.
I am thankful to Sarah for lending me Mike’s folders and sketchbooks, and for encouraging me to digitize his art.
Peace and love,
Daniel
