I've been taking railway photographs since the late 1950s. Very early attempts were with ancient box cameras (with quality to match!), but in 1962 changed to a folding Kodak66 camera used throughout BR steam years and into the very early 1970s. A few years with a Kodak Instamatic camera preceded Practika and Minolta SLRs before digital conversion from 2006. Not only are BR steam years and UK preservation here but also images from organised trips abroad.

Hello Roger, I am highly impressed to see your wonderful collection of Steam Photography mainly of BR. I really enjoyed clicking each picture from your such a huge collection on Flicker. I am an Indian Railway traffic Officer currently Posted at Ferozepur Division of Northern Railway. Being a steam railway enthusiast I keep on exploring steam engines which now remain in photos only. I was visiting National Rail Museum in York in July 2019 and enjoyed the place which I would call Mecca for steam lovers all over the world. Hats off to UK Government who have preserved their rich Railway heritage in such a beautiful way. The ZB 66 NG steam engine which once used to run on Kangra Valley Railway is now again under repair in Amritsar Workshop which you visited and posted a photo. My email is bhatiarps@yahoo.com and my whatsapp mobile is +91 8847489748 . Please feel free to write me your experience about Indian steam preservation. Thanks . With best regards Satinder Pal Singh Sr. Divisional Operations Manager Northern Railway Ferozepur, Punjab , India
