Toddington Station first opened in 1904, when the line was part of the original GWR route Birmingham Snow Hill to Cheltenham Malvern Road. Courtesy of Dr Beeching, the station closed to passenger traffic in 1960 and closed to goods traffic in 1967, after which the track was torn up, the platforms demolished and the buildings left derelict (see below). In 1981 the newly-formed Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway plc purchased the trackbed from Broadway to Cheltenham. After restoration, the station was formally reopened in 1984, with a weekend passenger service running on the short stretch of new track from Toddington to Didbrook.

A team of around 17 volunteers now helps to maintain and improve the station and its facilities, all year round and whatever the weather! At Christmas time they provide support for the Santa Special trains which run from the station on a heritage Diesel Multiple Unit. You can find more details of these and also how to volunteer on our railway at the GWSR website: www.gwsr.com
