My time on London Transport during the 1970`s and 1980`s was varied and interesting. As a conductor and later as a driver I worked at several garages but Mortlake stands out as a particularly happy part of my life. I took many photographs there and am happy to share them here - slowly uploading as time permits.

When `local` bus districts were created with a certain amount of autonomy whilst still under a `central umbrella`, it became possible for each garage to have one vehicle in which a certain amount of pride could be taken - assuming that anyone was interested in so doing. So the `showbus` era arrived and with it some ordinary Routemasters were treated to 1960`s retro look and could be seen at rallies at weekends and in normal service at other times. Enjoy the pictures of RM 1563, our exploits with it and of Mortlake Garage prior to closure in 1983. Whilst only memories and photographs can relive Mortlake Garage, RM 1563 survives in my ownership and will hopefully be seen on the road again at some future point.

Enjoy the pictures and memories from the days of the `proper `LT but please acknowledge me as the photographer if you want to use any picture beyond this site.

And please don`t scan my pictures and offer them for sale on Ebay as I`ve already caught one person doing just that as I do routinely look for such underhand attempts.
