I was born in the mid 60’s and grew up in the same village, where I still reside, situated in the heart of Warwickshire and surrounded by beautiful countryside. My younger days were spent playing, roaming and having adventures exploring in the great outdoors. No doubt getting up to mischief on local farmland and the nearby quarry School was a struggle. It turned out I am dyslexic. Having four other siblings, there just simply wasn’t enough time or money to receive any extra tuition. Further education was, therefore, very difficult for me to grasp, taking twice as long as others to complete the written tasks required for the course. With perseverance and determination to succeed, I qualified as a plumber.
I bought my first camera when I was about 25 and since then have enjoyed taking snap shots of wildlife and various birds visiting my garden, especially the woodpecker. They never hung around long enough though, due to my four children running riot at timesAll my hard work paid dividends and I purchased a motorhome. Then in 2016, a once in a lifetime opportunity came my way. I took a year off from my business and together with my partner Lorraine, we decided to go travelling. We ended up exploring 14 European countries. AMAZING!
My other passions in life are my two dogs, walking and cappuccinos. Combining all of these during our travels, I found myself documenting the whole year with hundreds, if not thousands of images.
On returning home, the thought of a hard day’s graft seemed like an uphill task, preferring to use any spare time elsewhere – behind my lens or in front of a computer screen. I spent hours…well no…days to be honest, downloading, watching and listening to anything I could, in order to improve my technique for capturing better images. I now realise quality is so much better than quantity. All my hard work paid dividends and I purchased a motorhome. Then in 2016, a once in a lifetime opportunity came my way.
