Prior service in the USMC brought me to Japan in the early '90's. "Married into the culture" has kept me there for over a decade now. Having a natural love for history and the outdoors I was instantly hooked on Medieval Japanese Studies and Architecture. Now as a hobby I am in a unique position to visit many of the places I have read about or seen photos of. My greatest interest is reading a story and catching only a brief mention of some obscure castle or historic location/event (usually not on any tourist map) then doing a ton of detective-work to find every scrap of info on that place/event then trying to actually visit there! Sometimes it feels like a real-life Indiana movie!
