I am essentially a people photographer. I'm drawn to performers, especially musicians and dancers. But on a daily basis I like to engage with strangers,and if possible learn something of their story. And despite the formal approach I hope to get my subjects to relax for the camera. I used black and white for portraits when I shot film. Now as a digital photographer my pictures are mainly in colour. Two of my all-time favourite photographers -the late Ernst Haas and Steve McCurry are both noted for their colour photography.
