I started Railway photography in 1973 and over the years used several different cameras and traveled to many parts of the country to photograph. For many years I had my own darkroom were I spent hours developing and printing, I have always enjoyed my day's out photographing and have built up a collection of thousands of negatives. Over the years I have met many friendly railway men and have been lucky enough to be invited into several signal boxe,s to photograph. How thing's have changed camera wise, back then once the light got past 400 Asa you had to pack up and go home! I still go photographing now but not as much as I used to and use a Digital Camera which makes life a lot easier and no darkroom needed. I hope you enjoy looking at my photostream as much as I enjoyed taking the pictures. I will continue to add to my photostream as I scan more of my collection. Kevin Connolly.

Thank you Kevin for giving me the opportunity to view the period of British Railways I enjoyed most especially the West Country images which bring back many memories, thank you once more.
Your photos of the seventies railway, especially the end of the Westerns reflects my time living in Exeter between 1974 and 1977. We were lucky that the Westerns lasted so long and that the 50's were so unreliable. It was a pleasure to see them then, and to see your record now.
Kevin, your photographs are like a treasure trove of UK railway history, particularly of the BR Western Region during the heyday and run-down of the hydraulics. So much detail to be enjoyed. Thank you so much for posting all these excellent images.

these photos take me back to the hay day of trainspotting on new street station as a child, thank you for sharing
