My interest in photography dates back to the mid 1960s when I began by taking pictures of railroads. My subject matter expanded to include natural, urban and industrial landscapes. My professional interest in aquatic resources took my photography underwater in the mid 1970s with a focus on capturing native California freshwater fishes and their habitats, mostly in rivers, but also included some excursions into the ocean. A natural offshoot led to photographing wildlife from bugs to birds to large mammals. Travel is another activity in my subject matter with visits to Asia, Africa, Europe, Central and South American countries, as well as trips in the continental US, Alaska and Hawaii. I am always looking for abstracts in nature and in things made by people.
