Drag to set position!
Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum host a range of fascinating and vibrant free exhibitions as part of Knowsley's Culture Development and Events Service.
Kirkby Gallery displays work by local, regional, national and international artists, loaning pieces from institutions including The National Gallery, Ashmolean Museum, Hayward Gallery, Arts Council Collection and Liverpool John Moore's Special Collections. It supports the work of emerging artists, especially through the perennial Knowsley Open Exhibition, as well as running arts projects for the community and schools. Knowsley council also works in partnership with other arts agencies to deliver exhibitions such as Liverpool Biennial and pan-Merseyside projects.
Prescot Museum reflects the historical significance of Prescot and the cultural identity of its community. The colourful displays of images and artefacts tell the story of Knowsley and its people – how they lived and where they worked. The museum’s collection focuses on local people, businesses and industries such as watchmaking, pottery manufacture, cable making and coal mining.
