I live in Ogden, Utah. Studied art and photography in the mid 60's at Weber College (now Weber State University), but was side-tracked by Viet Nam. My first camera was a used NIKKOREX . It cost me a dime bag, this was the 60's remember. I earned my degree in bio-medical photography , did weddings and portraits for several years but gave it all up in 1990. I started over again 5 years ago with a Canon Shure Shot and got sucked back into the vortex. I now use a CANON D6 with CANON and TAMRON lenses. Most of my insect portraits are with 90 and 100 mm 1:1 macro lenses and extension tubes with just one small flash mounted off axis. I am not big on landscape photography and concentrate on "things" rather than vistas. I am drawn to pattern, texture and repetition, old wood structure, insects, especially spiders and dragonflies. When i photograph insects, i get their attention with a flash burst and then look for that moment of eye contact and recognition, the fight or flee instinct. Spiders get very aggressive postures, grasshoppers just kick back and smile. My images speak for themselves. If you like any of it, please let me know. You cannot offend me. Comments and criticism good, bad or ugly. It is all part of a creative process.
