Wandle Industrial Museum Archive
Drag to set position!
The Wandle Industrial Museum was founded in 1983. Its mission is to preserve, store, and interpret the heritage and history of the industries and people of the River Wandle.
On this website you will find copies of the photographs within our archive. These include the many mills and industries that were located along the Wandle Valley. This includes the likes of Young’s Brewery at Wandsworth, William Morris and Liberty’s at Merton, Connolly’s the leather makers plus the lavender, snuff, varnish and dye industries. You will find information about the mills and industries which existed at our main website www.wandle.org. In addition, our website has information about Merton Priory and the first public railway The Surrey Iron Railway. We also hope that you take the opportunity to pay us a visit. We are located at the Vestry Hall Annexe, London Road, Mitcham, Surrey CR4 3UD. We open Wednesday 1-4pm and Sunday 2-5pm (except Bank Holiday Sundays).
