Tom O'Hara retired from the USMCR in 2003. He served as a Director/Curator/Janitor for the MCAS El Toro (Jay Hubbard) Command Museum and then the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum at Miramar when El Toro closed in 1999. He worked for the Great Park (formerly MCAS El Toro) for eight years as a museum consultant trying to build a museum to preserve the heritage and history of Marines at El Toro at that sight. Unfortunately, the Irvine City Council scrubbed the project apparently having no interest in history or preservation. Now retired.
