Couple of years ago i got back introduced in Lego since my childhood when my son grew up. Of course first there was Duplo, but when he got older the first Lego sets where bought.

When surfing on the internet for my son`s next set i wanted to give him for his birthday, my eyes fell on the more experienced sets in the Modular theme. It did not take very long before i gifted myself the very first set, Parisian Restaurant 10243 and the next was Palace Cinema 10232.

Enjoying building these sets i was thinking of designing and building a MOC in this modular style. I did some trial and error but not with a satisfied result.

It looked like a six year old made the building. Since then i learned about SNOT and other Lego techniques which i was not familiar with since my childhood...

Back on the internet i found some nice MOC and got inspired by all the lovely detailed buildings you find out there. My favourites are on my Flickr page.

I wanted that too! And more particular, i love the Amsterdam Canal House theme with all the terrific details on the facade.

Reading into those inspiring stories of the MOC builders i understand that many of them actually try to rebuild real canal houses in Lego style. Searching for my own project i came across a typical black canal house - Keizersgracht 716 in Amsterdam. At the moment i spotted it on pictures i got inspired by the character of the building. I live in the Netherlands so once i had a spare hour in my busy live i went to the building and made my own pics and studied it in real from different angles, so i was able to build it for my own Lego Amsterdam Canal House project.

And that is what i tried to do, building Amsterdam Canal houses. Keizersgracht was my first satisfied MOC and i hope to build many more in this theme. It only cost time creating and buying the bricks i need.

Hope you`ll like it as much as i do.
