After a lifetime in science, I took up photography to flee a world of cold logic and relentless analysis and classification. I wanted to create. I wanted to see the world as a whole and respond to it emotionally. With no background in or appreciation of the visual arts, it has been a long and slow learning curve. I love looking at photographs from all genres be it fashion, landscape, flower, wild life, still life, abstract, street photography.... In many ways, I am interested in seeing the world through other peoples eyes.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, my own photography has been centred around flower and still life photography. The latter I find particularly challenging as it involves creating the scene from scratch.
Before 2020, I had been interested in garden and landscape photography. I had spent many hours photographing Cambridge University Botanic Gardens. One of my aims for 2023 is to sort through the thousands of images I have from the Botanic Gardens which have done no more than occupy disk space since they were taken. Hopefully, I will find some to share on Flickr.
My other major project, prepandemic, was to photograph Milton Country Park (Cambridgeshire, UK) for three years. Again, I hope to share some of those images in the coming year.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my images.
