Since I was 13 I had my sights on becoming one of the best orienteers in the country. By 16 I qualified for my first USA Junior Team. At 19 I qualified for the USA Elite orienteering team. From 2011 to 2015 I competed in six World Championships for the United States as both a junior and a senior.
At the same time I graduated high school, and attended the University of Vermont in the Honors College. I remained in the Honors College all four years, and graduated after writing a thesis on the various elements of fiction/fantasy writing, how they interact with one another, and how they can be used to interact with the reader in order to create a successful piece of literature. It was also during this time that I developed my interest in photography.
After graduating with degrees in English and psychology, I moved down to Cambridge, MA to work as the Assistant Director for Navigation Games—A non-profit organization aiming to outdoor learning and activity to every child in the Cambridge area through the sport of orienteering. Since I started working with NG, I have taught weekly classes at multiple schools, hosted special events for various groups, and coached a local team of youths, including the current top ranked 14 year-old in the country.
