I was a television news reporter in Los Angeles for KABC, then for KCBS/KCAL, from 1976 to 2010, when I retired and the family moved to San Diego. Always loved trains. Never got deep into the details of railroading but enjoyed looking for interesting locations where trains highlighted dramatic landscapes. Hobby slowed down over the years, but then along came the fabulous Railfan Atlas and its pictures by people who really know what they're doing, and I caught the old enthusiasm once again.
