I believe that creativity and inspiration originate from the mixture of polar thoughts and ideas. Design as a tool of communication plays a crucial role in delivering these artistic concepts to the rest of the world. The designer is not only responsible for the own piece of art. Also, one should be aware of its global value and be capable of delivering a profound message to an audience.

Since I have made an acquaintance with the art world and tried to express myself within it , I have been constantly searching for an energy, which would nurture and fulfil my creative urge. Having seen diverse authentic traditions, cultural values and peculiarities across the globe, I have found nearly all of their voices echoing in London: from a modest but plentiful Japanese bookshop in Soho to a cosy family-run Georgian restaurant in Islington… Therefore, I have been enjoying a unique opportunity to explore this exclusive platform for self-development and education for the past three years.

I was studying at the Architectural Association School of Architecture. The challenging and competitive environment of this institution encouraged me to dive straight into the unknown, express pioneering ideas and not to be scared of proposing them first. Also, I gained valuable knowledge in the history and theory of architecture; constantly pushed myself to think critically, either through writing or active participation in seminars. Furthermore, the technical competence provided me with an absolute freedom of choice and beneficial ability of mixing the media for conveying my design research and proposals. However, this school was limiting myself from experiencing the real industry and understanding its underlying mechanisms. Not to mention, it is a closed and reclusive community, where I was lacking such fundamental aspects for a future development as a professional - networking and practise.

The course, Interior and Spatial Design, attracts me due to the high appreciation of the practical component of the design industry in relation to the self-branding and promotion strategy, culture and collaboration. It is a specific field of study, which treats the artistic aspect of design not only as a pure self-expression, but also acknowledges and delivers the insight view about its vital economic aspect. I aspire to achieve a brilliant understanding and master necessary skills, such as ergonomics, strategical thinking and flexibility for a future success in this particular industry. I have the capability and courage to make a relevant contribution to it, due to my curiosity, constant necessity in exploration of self and surrounding space. Vincent van Gogh said: “I am seeking, I am striving, I am in it with all my heart”, and I genuinely take it to heart.

This year, I learned how to ‘see slowly’. I tried analogue photography and it became an irreplaceable satellite of my discoveries. It taught me how to be patient, take a step back to see a full picture through the viewfinder. The most magnificent experience is developing the film due to the mysterious process and unpredictable outcome. I treat this particular discovery as a life lesson. Another passion of mine is synchronised swimming. Feeling your partner and music under the water and communicating only via eye contact brings interaction between people on a metaphysical level, which in my perception is what we are all aiming to achieve through creation.
