Aanii! (Hello) Right up front let me say this: I am a very strange individual. For starters, I have many mixed cultural perspectives. I have an extremely diverse eclectic background and life history. I am outspoken, political, spiritual, sometimes funny and sometimes so serious that I scare even myself. I have friends all over the world and that list is ALSO extremely diverse. But this page is about photography, so why all the talking? Because I shoot subjects equally as diverse. If the light provides something I want to chase and capture, so be it. Enjoy the shots. If you want to know more about me, read on.
My Native name is Waabishka Niimki and that means White Thunder in the language of the Annishnabe people. They are the ones that gave me that name and taught me a lot about their culture. This has changed me a great deal and sometimes that change has cost me some things. No regrets at all. My English name is Mark Herbert. I have no problem with how someone sees me, greets me or chooses to interact with me. I ask only for respect and it will ALWAYS be given in return. The pictures I post here are mostly for your amusement, enjoyment, etc. I am easy to find if you wish more contact. I have a portfolio page for my best work (I am a passionate amateur, but willing to sell work if someone wants it). I have several Facebook and Tumblr pages for written/activist/friendly contact and a Linkedin profile for the really "professional" stuff ( I work in mental health). All that said, enjoy the pictures, find me and drop by sometime for a chat, networking, etc.. If you are close to the house, stop by, sit by the fire, and talk. The coffee is always on. Chi Miigwetch!
