This Flickr page is dedicated to the late Willy McKnight. Willy was a well known railway controller based in Glasgow. He was also a prolific photographer and rail traveller, mainly in Europe and in particular his beloved Switzerland. He tragically left this world in 2014. Myself and a number of his friends have taken custody of his large slide collection, with the blessing of his widow, Christina. These are in the process of being scanned and edited and the best will appear here over time. Some of his later digital images may also appear in due course. Most have been fairly heavily adjusted in Photoshop to make them presentable, but there has been no alteration to the material content of the pictures. Willy (like the rest of us) was not the greatest at taking notes or cataloguing his pictures, and in some cases we are struggling for accurate caption information, in particular dates. I am extremely grateful to many who have assisted in identifying locations, in particular John Paton, Graham Todd, Graham Maxtone, Alistair Maclean, Fred Landery, Dave Davidson, members of the Scottish Railways (Past and Present) and Swiss Railway Society Facebook groups, plus others. ,Any queries please contact me via Flickr mail. Also , as Willy was one for acquiring photos and slides from others, and few are marked or catalogued, it's possible that some of these pictures are not in fact Willy's. Please also note that due to limitations in the quality of the originals it is unlikely that these pictures will be suitable for printed reproduction.
