Our Mission is to enrich lives and promote enjoyment of the arts by offering opportunities for creative and diverse artistic experiences. The Buchanan Center for the Arts (BCA) was founded in 1989 through the Grace E. Buchanan memorial trust. Located in an historic building on the town square in Monmouth, Illinois, the BCA hosts exhibitions, offers educational classes, and serves the community as a special event venue. We provide arts opportunities for all residents in Warren County and the surrounding region. The BCA advocates for artists and supports their work through our gallery and gift shop. We expanded our arts programming in 2017 with the construction of Pattee Plaza, a public art and green space created for placemaking opportunities. The BCA is an economic driver of our local economy and has played a consistent role in the renewal, revitalization, and preservation of our business district.

Grace Buchanan deeply believed arts, music, dance, and theater should be open to all. She knew these aspects enhance our capacity to see and hear the beauty in our lives and deepen the understanding of the human response to the world. Her legacy is now a space where everyone can share in the arts through a variety of arts opportunities. It is where young and old discover that a delicate brush stroke on a canvas, the sweet sounds of harmony, drama on stage, and a ballerina's graceful arabesque can give meaning to any place.
