This photo collection spans over 115 years of federal and state forest entomology, forest pathology, aerial forest insect and disease detection surveys, forest tree genetics, and invasive species management in the Pacific Northwest. While primarily focused on research, activities, and personnel in Oregon and Washington, many photos from other areas are also included. Beginning in 1902 on page 1 of the Photostream, and ending in 2018 on the last page, the images are presented chronologically to form an extremely loose visual program history. As new photos are added, they are placed into the Photostream by photo origination date. The contents of each themed Album are also presented chronologically.

A majority of the early photos are from the Bureau of Entomology's Portland Station collection, currently housed at the Forest Service Forestry Sciences Lab in La Grande, Oregon. In 2001-2003, approximately one third of the collection was scanned at 300 dpi by USDA Forest Service, Pacific Northwest Region, Research and Development staff. This FLICKR effort marries a subset of those 2001 scanned images with metadata from the collection's original documentation and provides supplemental information from a variety of other sources.
