My interest in photography began in 1959 when Larry Harris brought to 6th grade 'show and tell' all the equipment needed to make B&W contact prints. I was completely amazed watching the image magically appear on the paper. Thereafter I had to do that, and I began with my Brownie Hawkeye. I built my first darkroom in 1964 and equipped it with a Beseler 23C enlarger. I shot Nikon from 1964 to 1968, when I bought my first Rollei SL66 in Naples, Italy in 1968, while in the Navy. I continued with that medium format camera until 2011. After the Navy I built my next darkroom around 1973 with an Omega D2XL Dichroic enlarger and tried to include my own color photography. Not terribly well, because I am color blind.

I bought my first digital camera, a Panasonic LX5, in 2011 as a Christmas present to myself.. In 2012 I bought B&H's demo Leica S2P, because I am obsessed with image quality. I had become this kind of photographer as I spent my working life in retail and wholesale photography, using and handling the best cameras and being photographically challenged by some talented fellow salesmen.

Today, I am concentrating on photographing the orchids and houseplants I grow, capturing my neighbor's flowers, and the flowers in my own garden. Nature is sublime.
