See my web site www.photoseek.com/ which showcases the best of my 30 years of nature travel photography, and is a popular image source for 25,000 "U.S. monthly people" (according to Quantcast). For starters, take a look at My Fine Art Gallery. Browse, or purchase a print or license a file of any image. Read my FREE photo tips, and what's new on my photo-travel blog. If you are in the Seattle area, take my personal photography workshops, or view my world-class photo-travel shows.
Early influences on my photography have been the California flower images of my botanist father, the images in National Geographic Magazine, and the creative outdoor adventure photography of the late Galen Rowell. In 1978, I purchased my first 35mm SLR camera for shooting color slide film. For nine months in 1981, I traveled around the world seeing New Zealand, Nepal, Norway, France, & Switzerland. Ever since that trip of a lifetime, I have lived in the State of Washington, a place of exceptionally diverse beauty, a great home base for launching excursions to over 20 countries.
Since Fall 2003, digital cameras have rejuvenated my photography with instant feedback. Compact digital cameras make perfect travel companions, easily beating the size, weight and quality of my earlier 35mm film cameras. As of 2008, digital SLR cameras such as my Nikon D60 system put more power than ever in a lightweight body, especially when coupled with a sharp image-stabilized lens.
140 of my images have been published (click here for portfolio) in books (National Geographic Traveler Greece; Moon Turkey Handbook; Dorling Kindersley), in magazines (Nature Journal of Science; National Geographic Maps; Sierra; Wilderness Travel Catalog; PC Photo), in Reuters News Pictures Service, and other publications.
