I am a contemporary visual artist, practicing abstract painting and contemporary drawing as primary disciplines.

I have been drawing since my childhood but contemporary drawing has helped me to expand on this vocabulary. It has given me a different kind of freedom allowing me to connect with my emotions and thoughts, channeling them through a process of discovery and that journey has become more important than the end result in itself.

I am passionate about women’s issues and equality, and my work investigates the role and status of women in our current society, especially within the Asian cultures. Use of traditional materials, such as vermillion and turmeric are important as an extension of my expression. Though my work is largely experimental and abstract, I like to include figurative elements as part of the narrative.
