Lu Sakhno is a contemporary Ukrainian artist who started her career as a designer, but since 2014, she has focused entirely on painting. Her paintings are figurative and created with acrylic on canvas, exploring various themes such as mythology, geometry, love, and feminine beauty.
"I have actively exhibited my works in Ukraine and abroad since 1995, taking part in about 17 exhibitions, 8 of which were personal. My paintings are inspired by my research into an alternative reality, which I consider to be my parallel world. The world I depict in my paintings is familiar, but it has a unique essence and can be interpreted by each viewer in their way. My works are collected by enthusiasts and collectors in Ukraine, USA, England, Greece, and Italy."
"I am thrilled to share that from May 2022 to May 2023, I participated in the Great Project of Ukrainian Artists in Italy. Three of my large works from the "Garden of Secrets" series were exhibited in major Italian cities, including Venice, Milan, Rome, and Florence. The project debuted in Venice on May 14 as part of the international 59th Venice Biennale, continuing its journey through Italian cities throughout the year.
In 2022, due to the war that Russia started against my country, I moved to Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Now, I continue my career here, inspired by the nature and fabulousness of this remote corner of the planet."
