FILM. LATENT IMAGERY.

I am a Staff Nurse with a penchant for pointing a camera at my surroundings using a Pentax LX. I call it "The Warhorse". Sounds like I am going into battle to fight with the enemy doesn't it ? Living in my surroundings, the West Wales Coastline and Countryside, is a joyful experience for someone that carries an LX and 645 in a classic/cult Billingham camera bag alongside a hot flask of espresso and some intrinsic hoped fors. I'm not into photography as a hobby in a big way at all. Just take a walk now and again with the LX alone (sometimes use a flimsy old tripod bought from a boot fair for £2 that folds down to coat pocket size too. Nice and light.) and capture a few pics of the local spots. Nursing is a busy job so it's nice to just relax, take a stroll, point the camera at something interesting and snap. Bought myself a 1972 VW Danbury Early Bay Campervan which is my excuse to park up and take photos a little further afield. Bored of my takes....???? Will become a bit more so I suppose as time rolls by. My eyes and memory are what I value most.

About the pictures on the site? A few years back I picked up some secondhand darkroom equipment from a boot fair. Very basic stuff and the local recycling shop had a batch of old dusty Kodak/Ilford papers from the 80's. So I had a go and the results you can see. I'd like to give it another go but the small cleaned up log room out the back back I used at the time has to be de-spidered [gently and with careful thought] and cleaned up. Can I be bothered?? I always was a bit bad on the technical front and need to relearn how to develop film all over again.

Black and White is pure and total atmospheric bliss and I like to see my work in this format. Don't take anything with a colour film at all.

As I mentioned earlier I use the Pentax LX with a couple of lens and the Pentax 645 with just the standard lens. They are wonderful pieces of equipment and definately, in my eyes, classic cameras. Also, I wouldn't even begin to think about changing to digital. Forget it! The mystery of the latent image is just about perfect. The Silver stuff every time.
