My recent art has emerged from comic book culture,shamanism,mythology and pop culture icons.

Growing up in the Queen Charlottle Island, I was always surrounded by the powerful imagery of the Haidai .The sybolism and enormity of their art has been a lasting influence throught my life and my artistic exploration.

My artwork pays homage to the tomic form. The figures are chimerical,mixing human elements, land and sea creatures, plant-life and the imagings of religion and mythology to form a supernatural whole. They speak of the richness and wonder of living world,the mysteriesof the spirtual realm, and unseen forces.

These are the guardian of the subconscious,inhabiting the farest-corners of one's minds

 

Owen Plummer curated monthly exhibitions at Lucky's Comics Gallery for seven and 1/2 years. He curated BookForms:comics,illustation,and graphic novels at Emily Carr Concourse Gallery in Vancouver BC in 2006,Co -Curated with Jo Cook "Cyclops dreams artist's books , comics and zines "at Access Artist run Centre in Vancouver,BC in 2005,Curated "Palm Crystal Red" at Second Story in Victoria,BCin 2003,Curated Tea Swmap at James Douglas Whitman Gallery as part of The Welcome show at 536 in Vancouver BC in 2005.Owen has been a Board-member of Access Artist Run Centre since 2005 and has curated shows in the galley's Project Room including Co-curating "Rusty Cages" with James Whitman as part"Ailence John Cage Festival put on by Vancouver New Music Festival.

Owen has self- published more 100 zines of various titles under his Rubber Popsicle Factory/Marching Chicken Press labels.His artwork has been reproduced nationally and interrationally in publications such as Drippytown comics and stories,Geist, Regal Beast,Paper Rodeo,Sturgeon White Moss( UK) and Nod a Dod(Condrum Press) and Perro Verlag and On-line Mung Being
