London based, shoot mostly street photography, but interested in documentary projects as well as exploring the way light falls in urban and architectural settings.

In 2020/21 I documented the sites of 65 street murders in London, and followed up with an exhibition to try and raise awareness, (“Did You See Or Hear Anything” – Camden Image Gallery 2-14th June 2021). [ www.williamshapter.com ]

Although I loved photography as a child, I spent virtually all of my working life in film and TV first as a film editor, then as a producer, and took very few pictures until just a few years ago. Now I can be alone with a camera with only myself to please.
