I bought my first camera for my 50th birthday and took up photography in 2008. It was the diminutive Olympus E510. It wasn't long before I got into bringing my camera to gigs. I kept struggling with poor lighting and kept adding new gear trying to overcome the shortfalls. With promises of better low-light capabilities, I bought an Olympus E3 in mid-2010 and then an E5 in 2011 adding new, faster lenses as I went along.
It wasn't until I followed Mick Flannery and his band up to the Olympia Theatre in Dublin in April 2012 that I decided that gig photography was where I wanted my life to go. While in Dublin, I ordered some serious gear in Conn's Cameras. I bought myself a Nikon D4 and a D800 to set myself up in a professional capacity. My troubles with low-light were over. As much as I loved my Olympus gear, particularly the beautiful glass, there was no comparison with my new Nikon gear. I didn't look back. I spent some wonderful years going from gig to gig. To be able to marry my love of music and my newfound love of photography was a true blessing.
I decided to try my hand at travel photography. To that end, I headed off to Morocco on the advice of the great musician, Dick Farrelly. It was an amazing experience. Such photography opportunities! I wanted to travel the world. As often happens in life, my plans didn't come to fruition.
Unfortunately, my new life was only to last a few short years. in 2018 I was diagnosed with cancer. As I was recovering from the cancer I was diagnosed with arthritis in my neck. This played havoc with my gig photography as my movement was severely restricted. I was then diagnosed with emphysema and diabetes. All conditions restricted my movement.
I am spending a lot of my time now going over my vast collection of photos. It really is a labour of love though. Such great memories. Sadly, I have difficulty remembering the names! It is my intention to go through my full library of photos and put them up here on Flickr as a means of cataloguing my work. So, if my albums seem a bit self-indulgent, it is only that I wish to put all of my work up here. I will thank you to bear with me on this. Thank you!

Stumbled across your work because you faved one of my shots and kindly commented. However, your photo stream is simply outstanding, particularly the black and white images of Moroccan life. They make a fabulous documentary set, and really should be out there for more people to see. Great stuff!
