Hi, my name is Albert Steelhammer. I'm a photographer of the night and day. I'm based in Baytown, a suburb east of Houston, TX. I love to shoot the cosmos when it beckons. I am a welder during the week, but am seeking an eventual escape with my camera.

I have been taking photos on a casual basis since 2000. Only recently have I decided to amp it up more. I started with mostly night sky and weather shots. Following that was landscapes and architectural photos. I discovered the technique of light painting fairly recently, and it allows me to build my creativity ever higher. Now I focus on combining the different genres as much as I can.

I often tap into my knowledge of general things astronomical to plan things to shoot. I love to photograph events such as eclipses, planetary conjunctions, and satellite passes. Capturing those with majestic landscapes and awesome architecture is very fun.

Whenever I can, I like to capture scenes that are very familiar from angles seldom or rarely seen. I also have been known to take great risks - such as standing mere inches from a 1,000' vertical drop or being out in the open with lightning all around - to get that ultimate shot. The result is often very rewarding and worth the risk.

As time and finances allow, I plan to further hone my craft and become the best I can possibly be. Focus to infinity!
