Now retired, I've worked as a professional librarian and as a copy editor, web content manager, and grants administrator at the SETI Institute in California, and have worked and volunteered at the Orange Beach Wildlife Center. Throughout, I've taken photos of everything that interests me, from travel photos to flower closeups to wildlife. I now live in coastal Alabama and spend much of my time organizing and editing older photos and exploring the local natural wild areas and parks. I have several cats (some from California and some from Alabama) who often end up in my Flickr albums. I enjoy astronomy, history, reading (especially mysteries, science fiction, fantasy, and biographies), needlepoint, and baking.
I started my photography hobby with a Nikkormat SLR film camera in 1976, and am currently using a Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera. My favorite lenses are Nikon 24-200mm for "regular" shots, Nikon 180-600mm (with an extender) for telephoto shots, Nikon 14-30mm for wide-angle photos, and Nikon MC 50/2.8 for macro work.
