Alix Voz is a teacher, a gallery director-curator, and a practicing artist. She has a diverse background in art education. Alix holds a BFA from Nipissing University (North Bay), certification as an Artist-Educator Professional from the Royal Conservatory (Toronto), and she is preparing to defend her thesis for a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at York University (Toronto). For the past three years, Alix has been teaching the History of North American Architecture course in the Architectural Technician program at Collège Boréal. She recently gave an Art Talk Presentation to Canadore College business students interested in working in culture. She previously worked as an Instructional Designer (ID) at Laurentian University (LU) where she designed innovative pedagogical approaches and created alternate delivery learning environments for students. As an ID, she taught LU faculty how to use the distance education delivery platform and worked with them to design tools and strategies consistent with learning outcomes. As part of the educational mandate at the WKP Kennedy Gallery, Alix creates and implements community outreach programming which includes enriching events for all ages that welcome participants into the exhibition space to explore artworks and learn fine arts and craft techniques. She has work experience in a variety of museums and galleries across Canada and has visited galleries around the world including a recent visit to the Venice Biennale 2019. As the gallery director-curator at the WKP Kennedy Gallery in North Bay, Alix designs an annual program of contemporary exhibitions, permanent collection exhibitions, and exhibitions and events linked to community projects and festivals. She actively promotes the community’s creative sector to foster a progressive, prosperous community. Alix has a contemporary art practice and shows her work in galleries across Ontario.
