Hi,
Having undergone hip surgery, I'm back out and about again with a camera, but I'm not yet quite up to my usual level of output.
I am Ian Kelly a retired secondary school teacher (high school in US money) living in the coastal town of Brighton on the South Coast of England. The subject that I taught was Art. I got out of the habit of personal artistic creativity during a period of mature postgraduate study and caring for an elderly relative. So photography is serving as a way back into that personal creativity and for the present seems to be my main channel for that. I am adopting a messy painter approach to photography with much editing and filtering done on the laptop. This may be a rather 1950s or 60s thing to say but I am treating photography as painting pursued by other means.
The places that I photograph are mainly either within the civic neighbourhood of Brighton or easily reached by public transport from there. I also take my camera with me on outings with the Brighton local members group of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). In addition to watching birds, it is a way to get out into some beautiful and elementally wild places.
For those who are interested in the gear and software I use:
Camera: OM Digital Systems OM-D EM5 MkIII
Software: Skylum Luminar Neo, Topaz Photo AI and Affinity Photo.
