My earliest memory of the Newcastle & Carlisle line is of a footplate ride on 62425 Ellangowan along the length of Platform 15 at Newcastle Central station.

I took up railway photography in 1981 to keep myself out of trouble whilst exiled at the far end of Cornwall. In 1988 I moved close to the mid-point of the N&C and have tried to record the comings and goings along the line ever since.
