John is a pure photographer, and each photograph must be candid and unstaged for him. He captures every moment's "making in the making" and observes reality as it becomes an experience.

He is a flâneur — a passive, strolling observer of urbanity. He looks for the ephemeral, the things that will be gone when he looks again.
