Please make free use of my art in any way you wish. I am keen to see my images being used, so feel free to download and use them in any way you want. They are entirely free for use for both personal and commercial purposes. If you think any would look good as a poster or screensaver, or on a t-shirt, fabric, bag, mug, mousemat, or for any other purpose, then please don’t hesitate. The only thing I ask is that you post a comment to say what use you have made of the image.
My paintings are basically of two kinds. Some are entirely “figurative”, by which I mean intended to depict real (or sometimes imaginary) things, such as people, nature and objects. These pictures are usually “recognisable” rather than “realistic” images, since it is the interplay of shapes, colours and tones that interests me in their creation more than anything else. Claude Cezanne’s comment that “art is a harmony in parallel with nature”, neatly sums up what I try to achieve in these works.
The second kind of picture I try to create is, for me at least, the more interesting. These are also figurative, but their real essence is the unspoken “meaning” or “feeling” elicited by the image. I call these "dreamscape" paintings. When these work successfully, they invite the viewer to find their own meaning/feeling, which may be quite different from what I get from the image myself. I think that in this way the viewer’s subconscious and unconscious are called into play, just as mine were when creating the image. I would be interested to hear what you think of these.
I have uploaded high resolution versions of each picture, hence they can be printed out at up to A3 size with little loss of detail.
The paint surface is also important to me as an artist and so the images are as sharp as I can make them. Clicking on a picture will open the full-size image where the individual brushstrokes and paint flecks can be observed, for those (like me!) who like to see that detail.
