Duddon Canoe Club (DCC) is an active all inclusive club with a club house, changing rooms and boat store located by the side of the Cavendish Dock, Barrow in Furness, Cumbria.
We are affiliated to Paddle UK (PUK) and hold the Quality Mark accreditation from Paddle UK (PUK). The club has a good fleet of boats - open canoes, sea, whitewater, general purpose and racing kayaks, as well as paddles and buoyancy aids, etc. which are available to members to use. We run regular training and coaching sessions both in the dock, at Barrow pool and out in the lakes, rivers and sea whenever conditions allow.
Our racing squad is particularly strong having collected a veritable haul of medals and silverware recently. In 2013 and 2014 the squad won the Wavehopper Challenge Series. An excellent effort by our youngsters, along with some support from the not so young club members.
Four young members in 2015 attended GB selection training camp at Nottingham. All had a great time with one member qualifing to represent GB in the under 18's in Nantahalla, USA in August of that year.
The club has a strong family focus and we have regular events - BBQs, day tours and occasional weekend camps where the whole family, including non-paddlers, are welcome to come along and enjoy the fun. Like the sound of any of this? Do you have an interest in any form of paddlesport not mentioned here? Please get in touch and we'll see how we can help!
